The 2nd Scientific Symposium of the Hellenic Robotic Gynecological Society (ERGE/HERGS) Successfully Concluded

The proceedings of the 2nd Scientific Symposium of the Hellenic Robotic Gynecological Society (ERGE/HERGS) were successfully completed on April 4th in Thessaloniki, leaving a strong imprint of scientific progress.

According to the President of HERGS and the Congress, Dr. Ilias Tsakos, Gynecologic Surgeon:
“The event became a point of reference for the medical community, going beyond the narrow boundaries of gynecology and establishing, for the first time in Greece, an interdisciplinary platform for dialogue among leading surgeons from the entire spectrum of robotic applications.”

International Impact and High-Level Scientific Dialogue

The symposium brought together more than 200 distinguished scientists of international stature, strengthening Greece’s role as a dynamic hub of “health diplomacy” and innovation.

An outstanding international scientific panel participated, including:

  • Vasilios Tanos, Professor and President of the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE)
  • Mats Brännström, Professor at the University of Gothenburg and pioneer of uterine transplantation
  • Philippe Van Trappen, Professor and renowned expert in Gynecological Oncology
  • Cosima Brucker, Professor at the University of Nuremberg
  • Ralf Joukhadar, Associate Professor (Switzerland)
  • Henrik Falconer, Associate Professor at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm

They were joined by leading Greek professors of international reputation, as well as distinguished surgeons from multiple specialties with expertise in robotic surgery.

Scientific Conclusions and Future Prospects

During the sessions, the increasing readiness of the Greek scientific community to adopt complex and innovative medical protocols was highlighted.

Dr. Tsakos emphasized that the Society remains committed to:

  • the education of Greek physicians,
  • the institutional establishment of new technologies,
  • and ensuring universal patient access to modern therapeutic methods,
within a framework of interdisciplinary collaboration and high safety standards.

Strategic Goal: The Next Day for Greece

Although uterus transplantation is still in the planning phase in Greece, HERGS is moving forward dynamically in developing the necessary protocols and providing specialized training for medical personnel.

The 2nd Scientific Symposium constitutes a cornerstone for building the appropriate infrastructure, aiming at the safe and ethically grounded integration of cutting-edge technologies into the Greek healthcare system.
