About HERGS
Our Mission
The Hellenic Robotic Gynaecological Society (HERGS) is a non-profit Scientific Society and was founded with the aim to spread and promote the application of Robotically Assisted Surgery in the treatment of Gynaecological conditions.
Our mission at HERGS is:
- The promotion of Robotic Surgery, its recognition as a safe and effective treatment option and the creation of Guidelines for good practice and evidence-based application.
- Partnership with Scientific Societies, Institutes and Institutions on a national and international level.
- The defense of patients’ rights to equal access to robotic technology and the assertion of its coverage by public and private insurance.
- The assertion of optimal scientific and occupational conditions for our members, the organisation of scientific contests and the provision of scholarships and awards to distinguished and young Surgeons.
The education of medical professionals and the public on the latest advances in the field of Robotic Surgery in Gynaecology, the organisation of training seminars, conferences and other events.

HERGS included Founding Members, regular Members, Honorary Members and Associated Memebrs.
Founding Members
Members
Members of HERGS enjoy participation and voting rights during the HERGS General Assemblies, provided that they have fulfilled their financial obligations.
Members are obligated to contribute to the fulfillment of HERGS’ Mission, based on their abilities and to participate to the society’s events and activities. Right to membership is held by Medical Doctors of Greek/Cypriot Nationality, who have obtained Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialty certification in Greece/Cyprus, have validated specialty certification awarded abroad or have obtained specialty certification abroad and are also working abroad.
Honorary Members
An honorary title awarded to individuals who:
- Have provided exceptional service and contributed considerable scientific works to the Science of Gynaecology, Robotic Gynaecological Surgery and Medical Science in general.
- Have contributed with their work to the advancement of Medical Science and have made significant societal contributions.
- Have served HERGS selflessly and for a long time.
Honorary Members are elected following recommendation by a Council Member and after they receive a majority vote of approval by the HERGS Council. Honorary Members have voting and deliberating rights in the HERGS General Assembly and are relieved of the annual membership fee.
Associated Members
Rights to Associate Membership are held by:
- Medical Doctors with specialties other than Obstetrics and Gynaecology, who have a scientific interest in Robotic Surgery.
- Greek and International Obstetrics and Gynaecology trainees.
- Paramedical and administrative personnel interested in HERGS’ mission.
Associate Membership is given following approval by the HERGS Council majority. Associate Members have participation and deliberation rights, but no voting rights in HERGS General Assemblies.
Friends of HERGS
Following Council approval, individuals or legal entities who are not regular Members may be recognized as “Friends of HERGS”, if they wish to contribute to HERGS’ work or participate, follow and stay up to date about activities and events by HERGS.
