Successful completion of the Masterclass in "Pelvic Floor Surgery" with the support of HERGS.

The innovative 1st Masterclass “Pelvic Floor Surgery” was successfully completed on Saturday, May 24th at “St. Luke’s” Clinic in Thessaloniki, with the initiative of Dr. Elias Tsakos and under the auspices of HERGS.

Pelvic organ prolapse is a silent epidemic affecting the quality of life of thousands of women, with a significant impact on quality of life. Moreover, its effective management is a surgical challenge, which requires specialized training of the Gynecologic Surgeon. Recognizing the need to highlight the problem, raise awareness and the role of minimally invasive, robotic surgery, HERGS organized under its auspices the 1st Masterclass on “Pelvic Floor Surgery” on Saturday, May 24th at “St. Luke’s” Clinic in Thessaloniki. The seminar was held with the support of the Greek Delegation of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists of the United Kingdom (RCOG) as well as EmbryoClinic and SofMedica.

The seminar was a complete success and all the trainee positions were filled. The trainees had the opportunity to witness the latest, minimally invasive treatment techniques, with an emphasis on the pioneering role of robotic surgery. The training of the participants was undertaken by the internationally renowned Specialist Pelvic Floor Surgeons and HERGS members Dimitrios Bolovis and Cosima Brucker, from the University Gynaecology Clinic of the Nuremberg Hospital. Elias Tsakos, Nikos Vlahos and Nikos Plevris, members of the HERGS Council also participated as trainers and faculty.

At the same time, through informed scientific discussions and presentations, the real extent of the problem of pelvic organ prolapse, the optimal therapeutic approach and the contribution of robotic technology in improving surgical outcomes was highlighted.
